Active and Lonely Soldiers

Background:

In 2013, a home for lonely soldiers (“HLS”) was established in Haifa. Located in the city center, it serves as a meeting place for hundreds of lone soldiers. It gives them a home, a place to meet, host events, relax, and receive a hot meal at no cost.

The home's purpose is to support and guide individual soldiers during and after their military service. Once discharged, the former soldiers are no longer entitled to the same benefits and often find themselves falling through the cracks, with no one to help them reach their goals, such as registering at academic centers and receiving academic scholarships and guidance.

In addition, the home provides career development and psychological counselling, and personal guidance from professionals in various fields.

During the outbreak of the war on 7th October 2023, the HLS expanded to aid thousands of soldiers to whom the organization provides and delivers military equipment, clothing, food, and help in every field, including assistance to the families of the wounded.

Why do we support active soldiers and the HLS?

Supporting active soldiers is a top priority, before and after the 7th of October 2023. With our donors' support, we focus on sourcing and delivering needed supplies and work to improve their physical and mental well-being.

Furthermore, we believe that lonely soldiers represent the success of the national effort to strengthen the connection with the diaspora. By supporting lonely soldiers, we embrace a brave group of young Zionist men and women and their families. We want their experience in Israel to be fulfilling, safe, and influential, increasing the likelihood of others to follow and potentially for the soldiers to stay in Israel after the commencement of their service.

Who do we work with?
