High Holidays gifts

Dear friends,

Next week, the Jewish High holidays start with Rosh Hashanah when Jews wish each other a "Happy and sweet New Year".

This period is central to Jewish life, however for many in Israel, it will be bittersweet this year.  Celebrating the holidays with dignity is important for family life and the recovery process for those directly affected by the war.

In that spirit, we wish to update you regarding important activity Shalem has joined.

With the help of Leizer Klain from HaBayit Le Chayalim Bodedim (Home for Lonely Soldiers) we have carefully chosen 36 families in dire need of financial support. These families include those whose fathers have been unfit to work due to their hospital stay for more than 2 months which has put an immense burden on their families.

Thanks to your generous help, each family will receive a voucher for 1.000 Shekels to aid them with their specific needs. These range from being able to aford a full holiday meal, and clothes for the festive days to practical issues like children’s dental work, home construction, babysitting for an overworked mother, swimming therapy for children, and more.

We believe that helping specific families, who, due to their fathers's injuries live in constant financial struggle while facing the unknown regarding their beloved ones' recovery and the country's security, we together make the biggest impact.

Below, you can see the letter our heroes will be receiving together with the gift.

Examples of those we decided to help include D, a father of four who has been in rehabilitation for 7 months. A family therapist has recommended a short family vacation.

S, a bus driver and father of four who has, like D, been in rehabilitation for 7 months. His wish is to buy his children new clothes to celebrate the holidays. There are, unfortunately, many more cases like this.

Thank you for choosing to help our injured heroes and their families to celebrate holidays in dignity.
