Injured soldiers

Background

Since the founding of Shalem, we have been supporting injured soldiers (also other security forces such as police, border patrol, firefighters, and more) and their families.

Following the October 7th events, the number of injured men and women has grown tragically, putting stress on their families, teammates, and the healthcare system. We believe it is pivotal to offer financial, material, and emotional support.

How do we help?

We regularly visit recovering soldiers and offer financial support. We closely monitor the specific needs of the families, whose situations changed dramatically. Oftentimes main providers, the soldiers spend long months in hospitals and rehabilitation centers, while their partners or parents become the main caregivers, putting their lives on hold during their loved one's recovery.

Among the projects we participated in was a pre-Passover 2024 financial gift to a group of 10 soldiers with large families to allow them to celebrate regardless of the challenging financial and emotional state they were in. Before Shavuot 2024, we offered similar support to 40 soldiers in various stages of recovery.

One of the most important aspects of supporting the recovery process is the emotional one. We believe that through personal visits, thanks to listening and hugging, we demonstrate our commitment to our injured heroes in the most demanding stage of their lives.
