Dear Friends of Shalem,
We are happy to update you on a recent event we were involved in. As part of the “Red Wednesday” (Červená středa), the Czech Christian community, with the support of the Czech Jewish Federation, came together to support our Bar / Bat Mitzvah project in Israel.
Red Wednesday is an international campaign in which churches worldwide are lit in red during November to shed light on the reality of anti-Christian persecution and emphasize the importance of religious freedom as a fundamental human right.
In this case, it was re-purposed to support the religious freedom of Jewish youth in Israel and their human rights.

On November 27th, 2024, a concert was held at the Panny Marie Sněžné church in Prague. It features an impressive vocal performance by the group Schola Gregoriana Pragensis. It was featured on TV Noe. Donations were made by buying tickets to the concert, donations on location, via TV Noe, and through SMS. We are happy to report the event raised XXXX Kč. Through Shalem, these funds will go directly towards assisting young boys and girls in Israel preparing for their Bar / Bat Mitzvah celebrations.

It is heartwarming to witness the broad support received both during the event and by viewers at home. This is yet another confirmation of the strong connection between the Czech people and the state of Israel and its people. It also highlights the connection between the Czech Christian community and Israel, supporting one of the most important milestones in the spiritual journey of Jewish youth.
