On November 27, 2024, Czech Republic joined the Red Wednesday initiative for the 7th time. This project aims to show solidarity with those persecuted for their faith. Tens of Czech churches organised cultural events in support of the cause. This year's programme concluded by a joined prayer of Jews and Christians and a charity concert that took place in the Church of Our Lady of the Snows in Prague's Old Town. The captivating performance of the Schola Gregoriana Pragensis was broadcasted by TV Noe.
This time we raised to support children of injured IDF soldiers, particularly to sponsor their preparatory studies for bar/bat mitzvah. Families dealing with war injuries often face financial and logistical hardships and cannot afford to support their children as much as they would love to.
The raised funds will cover study materials, educational trips in Israel and bar/bat mitzvah party for the families of injured soldiers. The teachers are provided free of charge by "Ha'bayit Le'chayalim Ha'Bodedim" (Home for Lone Soldiers).
Shalem has previously supported 43 children of injured soldiers during their bar/bat mitzvah studies.
Nearly 10,000 EUR was raised thanks to generous donations from the public, the Federation's and Shalem's matching. All proceeds go towards Rabbi Leyzer and Dvori Klein's "Ha'bayit Le'chayalim Ha'Bodedim".
