Dear friends,
I will allow myself a personal update. Today, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem is holding a graduation ceremony where I was supposed to receive my master's degree. Given the ongoing bombing of Israel by Iran, I will watch the graduation ceremony from the comfort of a Central European armchair and symbolically end the program as I started it. Online.
I started studying “Jewish Education” in 2020, when Covid was in full swing, not realizing how much it would change my life. Covid, the birth of my son, and the ongoing war are the strongest highlights of my study adventure.
The idea of concentrating philanthropic activities directed towards Israel was formed under the influence of a philosophy course entitled “Israeli Education and the Challenge of Zionism in the 21st Century” by Professor Alick Isaacs, son-in-law of the prominent Jewish philosopher Michael Rosenack. The urge to establish Shalem came suddenly, with the outbreak of war, when the desire to help turned into a compelling need.
Today, the circle is symbolically closed, as we have decided to sponsor scholarships to support talented students who choose to study the same program as me. Thanks to the support of Shalem, a group of the best students who will raise the next generation of proud Zionists in the future, will receive a significant discount on their tuition next year.
